Benton & Odom Join AIM Board
Lee R. Benton and James J. Odom, Jr., joined AIM's Board of
Directors in July. Benton and Odom are long-time supporters of AIM. Both
purchased debentures to capitalize AIM before it commenced operation in 1989,
making each of them part of the founding movement to create AIM.
Mr. Benton was graduated from Cumberland School of Law in 1977
where he received his J.D. degree. He is a managing member in Benton & Centeno,
LLP, in Birmingham. He currently serves as President of the Birmingham Bar
Association. Mr. Odom was graduated from the University of Virginia, School of
Law in 1962 where he received his LL.B., degree. He is a sole practitioner in
Pelham. Both were elected to AIM's Board of Directors at its Annual Meeting of
Members on July 10, 2008, by AIM's designated proxies and the members present.
The proxies exercised their discretionary authority to elect Benton and Odom to
terms ending at the annual meeting in 2011 to address an important and
unexpected need to fill the board to capacity. "They are both welcome additions
to AIM's board," said AIM President Henry Henzel of Birmingham.
Two other directors, already on AIM's board who were
re-nominated by AIM's nominating committee, were also elected for the class with
terms ending at the annual meeting in 2011. They are Ms. Claire Black of
Tuscaloosa and Mr. Thomas E. Drake of Cullman. Both were welcomed back.
Two AIM directors did not return to its board. Mr. Norborne C.
Stone, Jr., of Bay Minette, retired. Mr. Reginald T. Hamner of Montgomery, who
was a director elected to the class of 2008, was not re-nominated for an
additional term.
